THE ROAD

I have walked down this road before,

Thought it led to my dreams and hopes,

Was always in a hurry to reach the end,

But instead was hit by verity before the journey began.

Scared to try again,

I hid behind the heaps of my fallen whirls.

Wished for the days gone by,

To come back, Oh, so desperately!

How dark is the darkest night,

I kept looking back,

To my castle of dreams left behind,

When I was eager to run down the miles.

So I said to myself,

This won’t be the end of me,

I still have a fire flickering inside of me.

My grandmother used to say,

To run you first learn to walk,

And to walk, you first fall and crawl.

So, I smiled again.

Patched my crushed courage with new hopes,

And stepped on that path again.

The road that leads me to my dreams.

To be a better me,

To find the bluebird that once slipped from my hand,

Learned to walk again,

And then slowly chase.

No one ever said it will be easy,

To climb the mountain that is only in your head,

Leave behind the rocks you had been carrying for so long,

that only weighed you down.

The journey has just begun,

I am learning to rise from my ashes,

Eyes open,

Feet on the ground,

Heart soaring in the sky

I Will surely see the end,

Of the road that leads me to my dreams.
