There is no doubt that Friends is the best show in the history of sitcoms. Oh, what the hell, it is the best show ever created. The characters are so relate-able, they have everyday struggles like us, the character development, the cast members, the writing, and oh the dresses... They all are so good. That's why I can't help but complain about the little inconsistencies in the series.
1. Phoebe is not sure how old Ben is.
Phoebe desperately wants to go to Sting’s concert in “One with Monica’s boots”, Season 8, Episode 10. When in the coffee house, Phoebe is reading the New York magazine. She reads a line from the magazine, “Sting’s son, "seven years old" and there is a picture…..” Phoebe further gets to know that Sting’s son goes to Smith Field Day School and asks Ross if his son, Ben goes there too or not. Ross says yes to both the fact and also tells her that Sting’s son is Ben’s classmate.

She begs Ross to get her Sting’s concert tickets somehow. When Ross is not able to get the tickets for the concert as the kids don’t get along, Phoebe is desperate and she comments, ‘Give them some blocks, put them in a playpen.“ Irritated, Ross replies “Playpen! Ben is seven”. Phoebe is shocked by this response and says, “Your kid is seven?”
The first problem with this whole conversation is that Phoebe doesn’t remember how old Ben even after reading the expert from the magazine herself. More than that, she has been around way before Ben was born.

Even if she doesn’t remember this fact (considering her character), it’s common sense that kids in the same class will be of the same age group. Duh!!!
ERROR ALERT!!!
2. Rachel has never been left out of things.
In the episode, “The one with Phoebe’s wedding’’, Rachel has to choose groomsmen between Ross and Chandler. When Chandler tries to convince Rachel to choose him, he asks her if she knows what it’s like to be left out of things. Rachel shakes her head and says no.
Though that's so not true!!!

In “The one with the football”, Season 3 Episode 9, when the gang decides to play football,
Rachel is picked last as she is terrible at football. She is so horrible at football that they don't even miss her presence.

Also in Season 8 Episode 22, “The one where Rachael is late”, Joey wants to take someone with him to the movie premiere and again Rachel is not included as she is pregnant.
She was pretty pissed both the time. Perhaps Rachel has not faced these situations as much as Chandler, so she doesn’t remember them.
3. When Chandler Bing ran away from his wedding.
In Season 7, Episode 23-24 “The one with Monica and Chandler’s wedding,” when chandler gets cold feet and runs away leaving behind a note saying ‘Tell Monica I’m sorry!’; Chandler hides in his office thinking that one will find him there. Of course, that does not happen (Thank god for that). Ross convinces Chandler to go back to the apartment and begins getting ready, doing one thing at a time, not thinking about the goal. When they are about to leave the room, Ross looks at the nameplate and asks, “Who is Mike Smith”? Chandler looks perplexed and comments,” I was sure this was my office.”

Now the problem is if Chandler was in the wrong room, how did Ross and Phoebe find him? They would have gone straight to his office rather than looking around in every chamber.
Thoughts?
4. Phoebe can speak French?
In Season 10, Episode 13, “The one where Joey speaks French” Phoebe showcases her ability to speak French fluently when Joey begs her to teach him French before an audition.

However in season 8, episode 5, “The one with Rachel’s date”, Phoebe gets attracted to a clumsy chef Tim, whom Monica wants to fire. Phoebe gets the meaning of “sous” wrong and asks Tim if he is Monica’s boss and he has to explain that sous is French for under. Dumbing down to get boys, I will never sous – stand!!!

There are many more but these are the ones that have stuck in my throat like thorns and I was not able to cough them away. So here there are.
Hope you enjoyed my nitpicking. Let me know your thoughts. I would love to hear your views.
Have a wonderful day.
